Parent Education
Parent Education is a part of our Family Support program offered at Family Central. We offer home-based parent skills trainings to the community through agency or self referral and group-based parent skills training to the adults enrolled in the Family Literacy ESL and GED/AHS classes. The program is presented by a trained parent educator and focuses on the entire family. The current curriculum will teach you how to: handle feelings, communicate needs, be empathic, take charge of one's own behavior, have warm interactions and fun with others, establish nurturing routines for regular family affairs such as bed and mealtimes, handle stress and anger, gain a sense of personal power and positive self esteem, give and receive healthy touch, and replace hitting and yelling with more effective discipline techniques. The parent educator collaborates closely with local community agencies to help provide the best family support. Please contact Ashe Family Literacy for more information at 982-4311ext. 248.
